Performance Max Guidance UpdateS

Google has substantially updated its Performance Max documentation, giving advertisers clearer guidance on how campaign controls, Search prioritization, budgets, assets, and landing-page expansion work.

The revised documentation explains how Search and Performance Max interact, including the priority given to exact match keywords and the role of Search themes.

Google also groups brand exclusions, negative keywords, Search themes, and keywordless targeting more clearly as controls advertisers can use to refine Performance Max reach.
Budget guidance has been expanded as well, with more detail on the Budget Panel and how Google determines its three recommendation levels.

Finally, Google has clarified how Final URL Expansion fits within PMax controls and emphasized that advertisers remain responsible for the accuracy of landing pages and AI-generated assets.
