Google has updated its AI Max documentation to clarify how keyword prioritization works when advertisers disable the broad match campaign setting or move to AI Max.
Broad match keywords are not automatically treated like exact match keywords for prioritization. If advertisers want to preserve that priority, Google recommends adding exact match copies of those keywords to the new AI Max campaign.
However, converting existing broad match keywords directly to exact match will remove their historical keyword statistics.
