YouTube Introduces AI-Powered Search Carousel and Expands Conversational AI Tool
YouTube is rolling out an AI-powered search results carousel for Premium users in the U.S., designed to help users find content more efficiently similar to Google’s AI Overviews.
The carousel appears for queries related to shopping, travel, and local activities, offering AI-generated video recommendations and brief topic summaries.
While this feature enhances content discovery, it may reduce video engagement, raising concerns among creators similar to how Google’s AI Overviews have impacted news site traffic.
Additionally, YouTube is expanding access to its conversational AI tool (launched in 2023), which offers video summaries, content suggestions, and interactive Q&A features.
It’s now available to some non-Premium users and aims to deepen user interaction with educational and tutorial videos.
