Google’s quietly reshaping Local Services Ads before folding them into Google Ads.
Two things worth knowing:
→ Categories just got way more specific. “Restaurant” and “auto repair” are splitting into cuisine types and individual services (transmission, brakes, oil changes, sushi, pizza…). More precise targeting, higher-intent leads.
→ The migration into Google Ads has started. Phase one: select US home & storefront advertisers, August 2026. Non-US accounts follow in 2027.
The good news for anyone running LSAs: the model doesn’t change.
Still pay-per-lead, still keywordless, still Search + Maps only. Existing setups migrate automatically no rebuilding.
More control, same mechanics. Worth getting familiar with the new categories now if LSAs are part of your mix.
