Safari 27

Niek Schlepers tested the Safari 27 developer beta and found stronger restrictions on client-side tracking.

Apple has expanded Link Tracking Protection, stripping more tracking parameters from Threads, YouTube, and X/Twitter links. LinkedIn’s Insight Tag domain snap.licdn.com is now listed as a fingerprinting script, which may impact LinkedIn Ads conversions and retargeting.

Safari 27 also appears to use Chromium’s open-source ad detection lists and is moving beyond script blocking toward domain, IP range, and subnet blocking. This affects tools and platforms such as Bing UET, Segment, Tealium, BlueConic, and other adtech/CDP providers.

The takeaway: client-side tracking in Safari is becoming less reliable. Moving to server-side GTM can help because the browser only communicates with your own server, while tracking requests are handled server-to-server.

Safari 27 is still in beta, so the final release notes will be important to watch.
