Barry Schwartz discovered that Google has expanded its Structured data carousels (beta) feature in Search.
Initially limited to flights queries in select countries, it now supports a broader range of query types including ground transportation, hotels, vacation rentals, local businesses, and things to do (events, tours, activities) across all EEA countries on both desktop and mobile.
The updated guidelines clarify how businesses can express interest based on query type:
– Travel & local queries (transport, hotels, rentals, etc.): [Google Search aggregator interest form]
– Flights queries: [Flights interest form]
– Shopping queries: [Comparison Shopping Services (CSS) program]
The feature remains in beta and subject to changes, but it’s now available for travel, local, and shopping queries within the EEA.
Structured data using ItemList markup helps enable carousel displays in Google Search.
