Meta Ads Update: New “Location Fees” Starting July 2026
Meta has announced that additional location-based fees will be applied to ads delivered in certain countries starting 1 July 2026.
These fees are meant to cover Digital Services Taxes (DST) and other regulatory costs imposed on Meta in specific jurisdictions.
Important:
The fee depends on where your ads are shown, not where your business is located.
Current announced rates:
• Austria – 5%
• France – 3%
• Italy – 3%
• Spain – 3%
• Türkiye – 5%
• United Kingdom – 2%
Example:
If you run $100 of ads in Italy, an additional 3% location fee ($3) will be added
making the total $103 (before VAT).
Key thing to know:
These fees are added on top of your ad spend after delivery, meaning they won’t be included in your campaign budgets.
For advertisers running campaigns across multiple European markets, this is a small but important cost change to factor into budgeting and forecasting.
