New analysis reveals that AI tools like ChatGPT treat Google results in a manner that differs significantly from that of humans.
While people click on the first result 27.6% of the time, ChatGPT cites it only 10.1% of the time. Positions 4–10 get much more attention from AI than they do from users.
This flips a long-held SEO assumption: top 3 rankings aren’t the only goal anymore. ChatGPT pulls from across the full first page.
Owning positions 4–10 for multiple terms may now offer more AI visibility with less competition.
