Google April 10 update

Google says you don’t need to do anything for the April 10 tag update.

That’s misleading.

If you skip this, you risk:

Violating privacy laws

Breaking your remarketing audiences

Getting messy reports

Here’s why:

The new Google tag acts like a mini Tag Manager. If not set up correctly, it can start collecting data on its own, like email addresses without you realizing it.

What to do before April 10:

Identify all your Google Ads & Floodlight destinations in GTM

Create a separate Google tag. -> Create a Google tag in GTM for these destination.

Turn off automatic event tracking and user-data detection

This avoids the possibility of duplicate tracking and keeps your setup privacy-compliant.
