Google Analytics Releases MCP Server: A New Experimental Tool for Model Context Protocol
Google Analytics just launched an open-source tool called the MCP Server, now live on GitHub and MCP here stands for Model Context Protocol, not Modular Custom Properties.
This early-stage, Python-based tool is designed to support AI model interoperability, making it easier to connect LLMs and agents with Google Analytics data through a shared context format.
What it is:
An experimental implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), designed to help models communicate with tools like Google Analytics
A local server you can run and customize, aimed at improving workflows that connect LLMs, analytics, and internal data
A foundational step toward agentic GA integrations enabling smarter, automated systems to interpret, modify, or analyze GA configurations
Key features:
– Python-based and open source
– CLI tool: google-analytics-mcp
– Modular setup — easy to adapt for testing or internal tools
– Built with LLM and agent integration in mind
If you’re working on AI-driven analytics, custom model pipelines, or internal tools that query or act on GA data, this project is worth exploring.
