Google is updating its Google Ads Developer Policies to strengthen security and account isolation, particularly as AI-driven advertising integrations expand.
The biggest change is that integrations should connect directly to Google Ads using their own dedicated Google Cloud project, rather than relying on shared programmatic proxies. Google says shared proxies can create security risks such as unauthorized account access and cross-tenant data leaks, while also causing throttling, latency, and broader service disruption during DoS mitigation.
Google’s Ads API Compliance team is reviewing existing integrations and will contact developers who need to make changes. Developers should:
Review their integrations against the updated policies.
Confirm they use an appropriate dedicated Google Cloud project/direct connection.
Keep the contact email in the Google Ads API Center current.
Watch for compliance communications sent from a google.com domain.
The policy update was announced August 31, 2026.
