Some Google Ads advertisers are currently encountering a UI bug where the option to add notes to the account change history popup disappears.
Normally, this notes field allows advertisers to document:
- Optimizations and structural changes
- Budget or bid adjustments
- Strategic shifts that may impact performance
With this bug, the “Add note” option is no longer visible, making it significantly harder to maintain proper documentation directly inside the Google Ads interface.
Why this matters
Account change notes play an important role in:
- Explaining sudden performance shifts
- Aligning teams and stakeholders on why changes were made
- Supporting audits and historical analysis
Without notes, advertisers are forced to rely on external documentation, such as spreadsheets, change logs, or project management tools — increasing the risk of lost context over time.
What to know so far
- The issue appears to affect some accounts, not all
- It seems limited to the account change history popup, not the full change history view
- At the time of writing, Google has not officially acknowledged the bug or provided a timeline for a fix
Until the issue is resolved, it’s recommended to log important changes outside the platform to ensure performance insights aren’t lost.
