Financial advertisers in the US and Canada will need Financial Services…

On top of identity verification, Google will check that you are authorized by a regulator or a recognized registry before certain financial ads can run.

Rollout is planned for early 2027. Google will share accepted registries, required credentials and onboarding steps per country beforehand. You will be notified if and when you need to complete the process, before enforcement starts.

In the US, Google uses the American Bankers Association registry to verify banks. In Canada, talks with the Canadian Bankers Association are ongoing.

The program already runs in 42 countries.

For agencies: if you run financial clients in these two countries, find out which regulator or registry covers them before the guidance lands.
