Anthropic just released a model that compressed months of Stripe’s engineering work into a single day.
Claude Fable 5 launched today their most capable model yet, now available to the public. A few things that stood out:
Stripe ran a codebase migration on 50 million lines of Ruby in one day. Manual effort: 2+ months for a full team
It beat Pokémon FireRed using only raw screenshots no helper tools, no maps
In drug design tests, it matched skilled human scientists on protein targeting tasks
Finance benchmark: highest score of any model for senior-level analytical reasoning
The catch: it’s a “Mythos-class” model, meaning it’s powerful enough that some queries (cybersecurity, biology) automatically route to a less capable model as a safeguard. Happens in under 5% of sessions.
Pricing is $10/1M input tokens, $50/1M output less than half the previous Mythos Preview price.
The parallel Mythos 5 release (same model, safeguards lifted) stays restricted to vetted cyber defenders and eventually select biomedical researchers.
AI capabilities are compressing the timeline on knowledge work faster than most people are adjusting for.
