Everybody just adds the conversion linker but what does it do?

The conversion linker tag automatically identifies ad click information in conversion page URLs, storing it in first-party cookies for web pages and passing it in URLs for AMP pages.

If used with Google Marketing Platform products, the conversion linker tag may also store unique identifiers in these cookies.

How to set up the conversion linker, in GTM:

– Click Tags
– New
– Click Tag Configuration and select Conversion Linker.
– Select all pages (normally)
– Save and publish your tag configuration.
