Learning Phase

Learning Phase is the period in which an advertising platform’s algorithm gathers data and tests different delivery patterns to optimize campaign performance. During this phase, the system analyzes how users interact with the ads in order to determine which audiences, placements, and bidding strategies generate the best results.

Platforms such as Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager use machine learning during the learning phase to evaluate signals like clicks, conversions, device type, location, and time of interaction. Based on this data, the algorithm gradually improves how it delivers ads to the most relevant users.

The learning phase usually starts when a new campaign, ad set, or major change is introduced, such as adjusting the budget, changing the bidding strategy, or modifying the target audience. Because the system is still experimenting, performance metrics like CPA or ROAS may fluctuate and are often less stable during this period.

To exit the learning phase more quickly, platforms typically require a minimum number of conversions within a certain timeframe. Once enough data has been collected, the campaign stabilizes and optimization becomes more consistent.
