Vehicle ads live in the UK

Arpan Banerjee just sent me that effective October 2024, vehicle ads will be available to all United Kingdom advertisers and will be expanded to more countries at a later date.


Changes to search & display reporting

Starting on October 16, 2024, Google will begin rolling out changes to search and display reporting.

As a result of this change, Google Ads Query Language (GAQL) queries for campaigns with an advertising_channel_type of SEARCH or DISPLAY will return a value of 0 for any metrics in that GAQL query when you include the fields segments.asset_interaction_target.asset or segments.asset_interaction_target.interaction_on_this_asset in the query.


Improvements GA4 Data import

Arpan Banerjee just told me that Google has officially launched the improvements to GA4 Data import!


New Search Beta

10% Lower TROAS and broad match 😲 This new Google Beta called bidding exploration will increase “traffic diversity” with this latest beta Google will switch automatically to broad match and lower your ROAS by 10%.


Roll-out Pmax negatives

Improved enhanced User ID session Attribution

Google has fixed an issue that caused over-attribution of sessions to Direct, either when enabling enhanced user ID mode with automatic user data collection, or starting in late June to mid July for customers already using the feature before that date.


Colour test WhatsApp

Karina Montenegro posted this new feature that has already been in beta for a while. This future should be released to more accounts in the coming weeks!


Looker Studio update

Several new partner connectors have been added to the Looker Studio Connector Gallery, including:

ReQuest by ReGuest SrlInsightly, Zendesk Sell, Customer.io, Digistorm, and Yahoo Finance by Windsor.ai

Additionally, a new funnel chart option has been introduced, allowing users to visualize how a metric changes across sequential events.

Lastly, a new Microsoft Excel connector is now available, enabling access to data stored in Excel worksheets.


New attribute Merchant Center

Dario Zannoni discovered this new attribute in Google Merchant Center, you can add videos to your product listings using the video link attribute.

This is optional but helps showcase products better than images alone.

Key Points:

Format: Video URLs must start with “http://” or “https://”, with a maximum of 2,000 characters per URL. You can submit up to 10 video URLs per product.

Requirements: Videos must be publicly accessible, no YouTube links (for Merchant Center), and the merchant must own the rights to the video content.

Best practices: Use high-quality videos (at least 720p) and show the product in use.This improves the visibility and performance of your products on Google.

Brazil Gambling update

On September 30, 2024, the Google Ads Gambling and Games policy will be updated in response to new regulatory requirements in Brazil.

Changes for Sports Betting and Online Gambling Operators:To run ads for online sports betting or online gambling services after September 30, 2024, advertisers must prove they have requested authorization to operate from the Brazilian Ministry of Finance (MF).

Advertisers will need to apply and obtain certification through the online gambling application form to continue advertising sports betting and casino services.

Changes for Horse Racing and Lottery Operators:The requirements for horse racing and lottery operators will remain unchanged.

However, these advertisers must re-apply for certification to continue advertising in Brazil after September 30, 2024, using the online gambling application form.

Changes for Aggregators:Gambling aggregators of any kind will no longer be permitted to advertise in Brazil after September 30, 2024.


YouTube premium price increase

YouTube Premium subscribers across various regions, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, are reporting price increases for the service.

Users began noticing these changes over the weekend, with the price hikes affecting both individual and family plans. For example, in some EU countries, family plans are rising from €17.99 to €25.99, while individual plans are increasing from €11.99 to €13.99, starting November 7th.

Similar increases are being seen in places like Singapore, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.

These hikes mirror the price increases already implemented in the US, where individual plans went from $11.99 to $13.99, and family plans from $17.99 to $22.99 over the past year. Additionally, some users have spotted a “Premium Lite” plan in beta, a stripped-down version of YouTube Premium that had been discontinued but now appears to be making a limited return.

This comes as several streaming services, including Disney Plus and Paramount Plus, have also raised prices recently.
