Google has implemented several measures to enhance the quality of its search results, including the release of the March 2024 core update and spam updates.
The core update aims to reduce unhelpful content by 40% and incorporates the helpful content system into the core ranking system.
Google has also introduced new spam policies targeting scaled content abuse, expired domain abuse, and site reputation abuse.
Examples:
> Third-party content produced primarily for ranking purposes and without close oversight of a website owner is now spam.
> Expired domain abuse now considered spam
> Producing content at scale for the purpose of ranking in search is now spam
These policies will be enforced through automated algorithms and manual actions, with the rollout starting this week and some policies taking effect on May 5.
